Bone Marrow donation update

I finally have a little more information regarding my bone marrow donation. I called the Baylor Hospital National Bone Marrow Program to see if they had anymore information for me because they hadn't gotten back to me. Any other time I wouldn't care, but I am leaving for balmy Waterloo, Ontario Canada tomorrow to go to RIM's global HQ to do several days of training and also attend my departments holiday lunch and then get back late Thursday night.

They officially have my physical, blood work and information scheduled for the afternoon of December 16th. It's supposed to take 3 hours for everything. They are going to be sending me an information packet with a dvd for us to watch so that we can go to the appointment prepared with questions. The actual procedure has been scheduled for January 6th. They have to coordinate with the recipient hospital because the little boy has to have chemo and other procedures to prepare his body for the new marrow. They only have a certain amount of time to get everything done that's why everything has to be coordinated.

I have had several people ask if I would know any information about the little boy. What I know at this point is all that I know. The recipient and his family know very little information about me as well, just age and sex. I even asked if the little boy was in a Cleveland hospital since that is where they were initially calling me from, but they weren't allowed to tell me.

So, that's all I know at this point!
